DIY Kombucha {Day 1}

I drink Kombucha regularly, its yummy goodness but paying almost $4 for the beverage is a little ridiculous! I was stoked to receive a Kombucha Starter Kit for Christmas.  I’ve thought about making my own kombucha but always thought it would be too much of a process. The kit from Oregon Kombucha is simple and comes with all of the ingredients you need; organic tea, organic sugar and the live kombucha culture (SCOBY -Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast, aka the kombucha “mother”). The instructions are simple and easy –  boil a gallon of water, steep  the tea, add the sugar, switch contents to a brewing container (I’m using a large ceramic bowl), let cool to room temperature, add the live culture, cover and then find a warm place for the kombucha to ferment for 7 to 30 days. I placed my mine over in a cooler over a heater vent. In 7 days I’ll give ya an update!
