Catch A Dream

Lately I am inspired. Inspired by my recent travels, by following my bliss. Inspired by life. Inspired by the dream catchers I have been creating (see below). I am inspired to live my dreams.

What do you dream of? If you could do anything what would it be? If money, responsibilities and fear did not stand in the way what would you do? Where does your mind go when it wanders? If today was your last day on earth what would you do? And why are you waiting? We have this one life, lets make the most of it. Go and catch your dream my lovelies…

Jimmie Martin… Turns Me On!

I am always thrilled when I come across an Artist/Designer that is pushing the envelope with their designs and doing something out of the ordinary.  Jimmie Martin’s furniture designs are not only different but each design makes a statement. I would love to install the “It’s your imperfection that turns my on” wallpaper in a powder room or anywhere for that matter. Jimmie Martin not only do you inspire me, but you turn me on!!!

Quotable Canvas

My latest project and creation…

What you’ll need: a quote or saying you’ll want to see daily, a canvas (Blick on Market Street in SF often has sales), acrylic paint, ramekin for paint, stencils, foam paint brush, glass of water and paper towels for any spills. Q-tips were useful too.

Tip: work out the math before. I had to start over because I decided to “wing it” which turned out to be a bad idea. I started with 3″ stencils got two rows in and realized there was no way the quote would fit. I painted over the two lines with Gesso and started over with 2″ stencils.

Good luck and feel If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Minding the Details {Lotta Jansdotter}

“Unstoppable creativity that thrives in unexpected places… Her genius lies in exploring the beauty of everyday things. Drinking coffee from a pretty cup, writing notes on a hand printed card, dressing your child in the clothes you made him. Slowing down and minding the details.” These are words from Lotta Jansdotter’s website which I came across in a Google search. I was searching for “San Francisco textile designers”. Lotta now lives in Brooklyn and is a surface and textile designer. I am glad I came across her website. The “about Lotta” section has been enough to keep me inspired all week.

Graffiti… art or a crime?

Cultures have used graffiti as a way to express themselves for ages.  The word graffiti simply means–words or drawings scratched or scribbled on a wall and the word comes from the Greek term “graphein” (to write). Is graffiti –  art or a crime? You decide…

“Graffiti is revolutionary, in my opinion”, he says, “and any revolution might be considered a crime. People who are oppressed or suppressed need an outlet, so they write on walls—it’s free.” Terrance Lindall

Blue oh Blue

I love blue. It is the color of the sky, the color of the ocean and the color of my eyes. Even more than blue, I love fabric shopping and pulling together new color schemes. I rarely find myself creating blue color stories, but I came across this color the other day that stopped me in my tracks. It was a beautiful cobalt blue.  I just stood there and stared at the fabric wing. The color was amazing.  I instantly fell in love. Blue oh blue, I’m back in love with you!

I am Turquoise

What color are you??? Please do share…

I was recently told by a friend I would be turquoise. I would have to agree. Of course I would have to be a mix because I could not possibly choose between a primary or secondary color. Nope, no way. I’m a beautiful combination of them both. A mix of blue and green.

And don’t forget to let me know what color you are and why

Special thanks to MC for the inspiration for the post idea. You are forever my yellow. xoxoxo.
