Bohemian Interiors

Bohemian is often described as “A person, possibly an artist or writer, who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices”. Not much differs when a Bohemian soul decorates their home. Bohemian interiors are eclectic. They do not follow rules, fads or fashions. Bohemian homes are inspired by world travel and decorated with objects from afar. A true bohemian does not worry about purchasing expensive items, but rather items with character. The homes are often colorful, whimsical and full of vintage elements. Bohemian homes have soul.

Crushing on Coral

The color coral brings a smile to my face and happiness to my heart. Coral says spring is here and summer days are just around the corner. It’s a combo of orange and pink. It’s feminine. It’s a color in sunsets. It’s fun & vibrant!

Lush Living

Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars… and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful.  Everything is simply happy.  Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance.  Look at the flowers – for no reason.  It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are.  ~Osho

I just love spring. Not only are the days are longer, but everything seems brighter.  Here are some interiors (and exteriors) that use pops of color to brighten the decor.

Pink + Orange: Instant Happiness

I have mixed thoughts about pink. It is not my favorite color, nor has it ever been. When I think of “pink” I think of fairy godmothers, princesses and Pepto Bismol. I do love fuchsia, but that’s not really pink, is it? Okay, where is this going? While shopping for a client I came across a pink & orange fabric. I was instantly inspired & felt happy. Colors effect everyone differently and apparently pink & orange is my happy place. Together the colors are fun, fresh, vibrant and playful. The color combo reminds me of summer days, Hawaii, backyard BBQ’s and watermelon. Instant happiness.

Some images to brighten your day…

A Place to Create

As an artist it is important for me to have a place to create, whether it is writing, blogging, uploading my latest photographs, researching & designing interiors or even sewing (my newest hobby).  I tend to thrive in a space that is clean, simple, organized and white! An inspiration board is a must! I recently made the one above my desk with a frame from a flea market, an old bulletin board and left over outdoor fabric.

The 20th Century in Color

Another must have for my library… Pantone: The 20th Century in Color by Leatrice Eiseman & Keith Recker. Today I listened Keith Recker give a presentation at the Cowtan & Tout Showroom in San Francisco about his book. I went straight back to the office and added it to my Amazon wish list. Can’t wait to order it!

Once I order the book I will give a review so check back with me. xoxoxo.
