Bohemian Interiors

Bohemian is often described as “A person, possibly an artist or writer, who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices”. Not much differs when a Bohemian soul decorates their home. Bohemian interiors are eclectic. They do not follow rules, fads or fashions. Bohemian homes are inspired by world travel and decorated with objects from afar. A true bohemian does not worry about purchasing expensive items, but rather items with character. The homes are often colorful, whimsical and full of vintage elements. Bohemian homes have soul.

Pink + Orange: Instant Happiness

I have mixed thoughts about pink. It is not my favorite color, nor has it ever been. When I think of “pink” I think of fairy godmothers, princesses and Pepto Bismol. I do love fuchsia, but that’s not really pink, is it? Okay, where is this going? While shopping for a client I came across a pink & orange fabric. I was instantly inspired & felt happy. Colors effect everyone differently and apparently pink & orange is my happy place. Together the colors are fun, fresh, vibrant and playful. The color combo reminds me of summer days, Hawaii, backyard BBQ’s and watermelon. Instant happiness.

The Organic Element

I love nature – the ocean, the sand between my toes, the sunshine on my face, the smell of trees, the chirping of birds. Mother nature is truly glorious. The weather was warm and sunny this weekend and I was fortunate to be able to spend a great deal of time outdoors.

Enjoying nature this past weekend made me realize how important it is to add the organic element to our Interiors. There is such a thing as too much upholstery, carpeting, drapery, etc. As in everything in life there has to be a balance. Keeping it simple sometimes is better. Here are a few interiors I feel meet that sweet balance…

{Well Traveled} Interiors

A style very dear to my heart. The idea of far-away-lands mixed with home. Layered. Worldly. Bohemian. Nomad. Exotic. Absolutely wonderful.

The Love of Books

I absolutely love books. I love the way they feel. I love the way they look. I love the way they smell. I love looking at my bookshelf and seeing my various travel books, the books I’ve read and the books that are collecting dust in the overwhelming must read pile. I have been pondering purchasing a nook or a kindle but have not taken the leap. I don’t think I can part way with my ever dear books. Not only are they amazing and add character to a home but there are many decorate possibilities too!!!
